Roma, Italy 2009
Guess what I did when I arrived at my hotel and they told me my
room would not be ready for hours.  Yes, I had tea that is after I cried.  That was a much longer trip then I expected althought I totally enjoyed it.  I read, talked with the beautiful Italian stewarts and watched the "Dutchess".  Loved it.
P.S. The tea was hot - seved with hot milk.  Here's a bone why can't my beautiful country get hot tea?  Forget tea with honey that's way to difficult to get yet a person can walk into a cafe any where in america and order a light moca coffee with cinimin and nutmeg, heavy on the moca extra whipped cream with a swirl of butterscotch and a dash of chocolate sprinkles and get exactly what they ordered.  I order a tea with milk and honey and I may get milk or I may get honey but rarely do I get both.  Help?

My hotel is close to the top of the Spanish steps which are amazing is felt like the rest of the world is at the bottom.  Seriously the plazza was rocking this Saturday night and I don't think it's because I finally arrived in Rome. All the streets off the plazza are lined with the most beautiful shops- the cloths were the best ever, I wanted to scream they were so beautiful. I haven't experienced Milano ( which I hear is a fashion happening)I'm heading to Florence (leather shopping, hopefully) in a few days so I'm holding onto my money as useless as the exchange is. Perhaps something will happen to our economy and I'll be able to shop.  As of right now I'm able to look or drool. Some fashion tips - color is in and the color that seem to shine more than any other is lavendar. The shoes are outstanding if you can stand in them (the heels are about a mile long).  Some prints are funky and tropical but not Hawaii tropical.  The purses are all colors I had my eye on a pink one with aqua blue suede lining.  The men's cloths are just as amazing and the men wear them it was like a walking fashion show in the streets.  I was jazzed and exhausted when I realized I had to climb the stairs to get back to my hotel I actually sat down right where I had the thought and wonderd if I would make it home.  I am tired - on that might Buona Notte.
P.S.  Everyone is talking on cell phones - I even thinking the dogs (which everyone has) also may be packing cell phones some where in their signature sweaters or jackets.

The Awards?

Feb. 23, 2009
What's up with the accents?  I really love then but I would like to see American artists walk away with some of these American awards, they are just as gifted (you are aware of that aren't you?).  Also while I'm on this bone I want to tell everyone that my daughter-in-law (who was invited to be in Sundance and in fact was in Sundance) could not get a job in the industry in England.  She could not even cash a check let alone get one. It was impossible for my son and his wife to survive in England but here on American soil most of the jobs are up for grabs if you have an English, Australian, Irish or Italian accent, now if you happen to be Mexican the only job you may get is on the Kraft services.  I love all these accents and I have ancestors from some of the countries I've mentioned but I don't love the fact that we may have a grass is greener on the other continent mentality.  We've sold our textile industry, our computer industry, our car industry to countries way off shore, we no longer grow enough cotton to cloth an army if god forbid we did go into another world war. Forgot about food it's imported from China (?). If were in need of assistance with the computer that was made in China we call a number that connects us to India where we try and figure out what the person on the other end of the line is saying.  This new stress test proves to be almost impossible and end up being greater then the problem with the computer.  What's wrong with us did I miss a beat here.

Italy, again and again and again.

This photo was taken while I was in Sicily - I manages to be invited inside a real palace that was being refurbished, climbing up scaffolding I was face to face with artist that were "sul lavoro".  I mention this because I'm off again to Italy (well someone has to do it) this time for the first time to Rome and Florence.  I have no set schedule so I may end up in places I've yet to dreamed of.

What you might ask is "what ask does this have to do with the title of my blog?".  Well at the moment nothing however in the future it will become evident.  My blog was created to express and also listen to quarries about things that one can not seem to let go - like a "dog with a bone".  These statements or questions usually begin with a disbelief of sorts.  Like "Why did he give me the finger? I signaled." or "I just wanted a trim now I look like I enlisted in the service" - "why don't people listen - I hate my hair"?  "Why don't people listen" is a big one or why did she say that, or do that, or suggest this when she knows I hate brown.  It goes on and on.  As you can imagine tons and tons of stuff came up during the recent election, to be honest I have tons and tons of things I could not let go of.  Well that's all behind us now and we must move on - I'll give it my best shot but you may hear some of my unpublished stuff about this election come up in the future because I still will probably need to be heard by the people who don't listen.

Back to Italy, I'm off in a few weeks and only now starting to think about what to bring.  My desire is to have as little as possible for a one month trip, only because I have to schlepp it myself.  My truth is I would love to take everything sort of how they traveled in the Victorian days.  Here's a "bone" what happened to the glamorous trains and helpful porters I know existed because I watched them on television in Fred Astair and Gene Kelly movies. Did Hollywood make all that up? Okay, I am not ADD (at least I don't think I am). Back to Italy ...... well actually right now I'm off to Magellans. Perhaps there will be a "bone" or two on this outing.
